Privacy Policy
Last updated September 21, 2026 · Free closed test / beta
This Privacy Policy describes how LUX (“LUX,” “we,” “us”) collects, stores, and uses information when you use our waitlist, website, and workspace during the free closed test / beta — no payment method is required. LUX is a personal productivity workspace for planning school and life — tasks, goals, journals, calendars, and related tools.
By creating an account or using LUX, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use LUX, we may collect:
- Account information. Email address, name, and a password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider). We use this to create your login, verify your email, and sync your workspace.
- Waitlist information. If you request access, we collect the email address you submit and related one-time codes / session tokens so we can confirm you are on the approved waitlist.
- Workspace content you create. This includes task, journal, and goal content, plus other items you add such as kanban board items, calendar events, docs, whiteboard drawings, resources, templates, habits, and similar notes. If you use the AI assistant (currently unavailable), we also process the prompts and context you send in that conversation.
- Preferences. Settings such as display name, theme, and default view, so the workspace looks the way you left it.
- Local device data. Guest (no-account) use stores workspace data in your browser. Signed-in use may also keep a local copy for speed and offline recovery, along with session tokens needed to stay signed in.
We do not run advertising trackers or sell your personal information.
2. How we store and use information
Guest mode. If you continue without an account, your workspace stays on this device (browser storage). It is not synced to our servers unless you later sign in and choose to use an account.
Signed-in accounts. Login credentials are handled by Neon Auth. Your workspace content is stored in our hosted Postgres database (Neon) so it can sync across devices. Access is scoped to your account.
We have access to user data stored in the database in order to maintain and improve the service. This data is only accessed when necessary.
We use this information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve LUX (including sync, backup, and waitlist access)
- Authenticate you and protect accounts
- Respond to deletion or support requests
- Operate optional features you turn on, such as sharing an item with another LUX user or asking the AI assistant (currently unavailable) about your workspace
AI features (currently unavailable) If you use LUX AI, the text you submit (and relevant workspace context for that request) is sent to our AI provider (currently OpenRouter) to generate a reply. Journal entry text is not included unless you enable journal access in settings. Do not put secrets in prompts if you do not want a processor to see them. LUX does not use your prompts, chats, or workspace content to train AI models. The provider that generates a reply may process that request under its own privacy terms.
Sharing. If you share a task, goal, or other item, the people you share with can see the content you chose to share.
3. Service providers
We use infrastructure providers to run LUX, including authentication (Neon Auth) and database hosting (Neon), optional AI completion (currently unavailable; OpenRouter), and our feedback board (UserJot), or by emailing liuharry249@gmail.com. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us.
4. Access, export, and deletion
You can:
- Review, edit, and delete workspace content anytime inside LUX. Items you delete are removed from your workspace and will not continue to be shown. If you had shared an item, deleting it also removes it from people you shared it with.
- Export a LUX1Z transfer code from Settings. A LUX1Z transfer code is a text backup of your workspace that you can save and later paste into Settings to restore your data.
-
Delete your account in Settings (signed-in users). This permanently removes your LUX login and deletes your workspace content — tasks, journals, goals, notes, docs, and other items you created — from our database. This cannot be undone.
Items you had shared with other LUX users are also removed from their workspaces, so they will no longer be shown. If you received an item shared by someone who later deletes their account, that item is removed from your workspace as well.
- Request deletion another way by emailing liuharry249@gmail.com. Tell us the email on the account. We will delete personal data we hold for that account unless we must keep a limited record (for example, to complete a deletion request or prevent abuse of the waitlist).
Guest data lives in your browser. Clearing site data for LUX, or deleting the transfer codes you saved, removes that local copy.
5. Data security
When you use LUX over the internet, traffic is sent over HTTPS so it is encrypted in transit. Data stored in our database is also encrypted at rest (AES-256, managed by our database provider). Sign-in and account credentials are handled by Neon Auth; LUX does not store your password itself. Signed-in workspace data in our database is scoped to your authenticated account, so other users cannot access your tasks, journals, or goals unless you choose to share something with them.
6. Children’s privacy
LUX is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verified parental consent. We do not ask for a date of birth. At sign-up we require a checkbox confirming “I confirm I am 13 years of age or older.” You cannot create an account without that confirmation.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 created a LUX account or otherwise provided personal information to us, contact us by emailing liuharry249@gmail.com or delete the account from Settings if you control the login. When we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete that information as promptly as reasonably possible.
If we later offer LUX to children under 13, we will do so only with a verified parental consent process that meets applicable children’s privacy law, including COPPA in the United States.
7. Retention
We keep account and workspace data while your account is open. After you delete your account, we remove associated cloud data from active systems. Backups may persist for a short period until they rotate. Waitlist emails may be kept for as long as the closed test is running so we can honor access lists.
If the LUX closed beta is discontinued entirely, we will notify you in advance where reasonably possible. Where possible, we will migrate your workspace data to a successor product or service on your behalf. If that isn't possible, we will give you a chance to export your workspace with a LUX1Z transfer code before shutdown. Remaining account and workspace data will then be deleted within a reasonable period after discontinuation.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as LUX changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy. Material changes may also be noted in the product or by email if we have one on file.
9. Contact
Questions about privacy, or requests to access or delete your data, can be sent by emailing liuharry249@gmail.com. Signed-in users can also delete their account directly in Settings.
